Our volunteers are not the only ones championing our cause. We have been in touch with our local election candidates running for the Mayor of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight post. We have explained how important the bus services are to the local people in this area, and we asked them to gather their thoughts on the current situation, and what they would do going forward if they won the mayoral post. Local Businesses and Services
The loss of the 61, and changes to the route of the 69, not only affect people on an individual basis, but also on a wider scale. See below businesses who are supporting us in our endeavours, and feel the bus services in this area are important to them as well.
Many of our customers at Winchester Caravans and Motorhomes, when dropping their motorhome in for a service with us, then use the bus services in the village to visit Eastleigh or Winchester for the day.
When their vehicle is ready to collect, they then use the bus to return to us.
Also, a lot of our staff are local, so these services are important to them, to reach hospital appointments, for example.
Other Campaign Groups
We are not the only ones campaigning for better bus services. Take a look at the other groups working with and alongside us to help improve things for the better!
Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinAcc) are a group which works to fight climate change across the Winchester area
Their Transport Hub want to see "reliable, affordable and convenient bus and train routes that join up with each other"
They have been helping to get your views out there by organising events such as the 'Making Buses Popular Again' forum held on 4th July, which B.O.B, along with Councillors from HCC attended. Read more that that here.
Hampshire Bus Action Group (HAMBAG) are a group which was formed to help communities across Hampshire and Isle of Wight gain better buses.
The main aims of HAMBAG are to "encourage the development of bus services in Hampshire and to increase their use."
