In November, some of our volunteers, along with Councillors for Colden Common and Twyford, Liam Bailey-Morgan and Sue Cook, and County Councillor for Bishops Waltham Division, Jonathan Williams, met with Donna Jones, who is standing for the Hampshire and Isle Of Wight mayoral post.

They came together to discuss the situation with the buses in this area and the impact it is having.

Our volunteers and councillors went through what has happened in regards to the loss of the 61 service and connections on that route, and also the changes to the 69 route.

They explained the grave impact this was having on the communities along the routes, in not just daily in a social or active way, but also mentally in the long term..

It was felt to be a very positive meeting.

Shortly after the meeting, Donna Jones stated the following:

"Bus services across ALL communities are key to preventing social isolation and reducing congestion on Hampshire and Island roads.

Due to funding pressures, there has been a reduction in bus services in recent years.

As mayor, I pledge to undertake a county-wide review of bus services in the first 180 days, in order to ensure communities aren't isolated''
